Join us this Thursday, Nov. 15 at 7:00 pm in the 1st floor conference room of Carlos Moseley Building at Chapman Cultural Center (that’s the one with the Art and History Museums).

Dr. Andrew Myers of USC Upstate will present “Yankee Soldiers in the South Carolina Upcountry during the Civil War and Reconstruction.” He is working on a book about this subject, which is an expansion of a chapter about the Seventh Cavalry from 1871 to 1873 that he is contributing to an essay collection being edited by Paul Grady and Melissa Walker.  You won’t want to miss this!  See details below.

Spartanburg History Hub – Dr. Myers: “Yankee Soldiers in the SC Upcountry” November 15, 2012

Join us as Dr. Andrew Myers, Assoc. Professor of American Studies at USC Upstate, speaks about “Yankee Soldiers in the SC Upcountry during the Civil War and Reconstruction.” He will focus on their impact on Spartanburg County using copies of primary documents from the National Archives – ledgers and post returns from Spartanburg.

The Spartanburg History Hub is a network of individuals and organizations committed to Spartanburg County history. The History Hub is managed by the Spartanburg County Historical Association and meets one Thursday each odd month except July and we end promptly at 8. If you or your organization has a historic event or project, please plan to share during our opening networking time during the meeting.
