TOPIC: THE GLENN SPRINGS HOTEL & THE DEVELOPMENT OF TOURISM IN UPCOUNTRY SOUTH CAROLINA
SPEAKER: Melissa Walker, PHD, Professor of History Converse College.
Dr. Walker was first to hold the George Dean Johnson, Jr. Chair in History; was awarded the honor of South Carolina Professor of the Year in 2007 in recognition of her work at Converse. Dr Walker teaches a wide variety of courses in US History including New South, The American Revolution in Southern Backcountry and others.
We will also have pictures and news clippings to view of the Veterans Marker placed at Oak Grove Baptist Church on November 10, 2012 for those who were not able to attend. Also I will have the book compiled by PHS members Bob & Helen Cartee of the veterans buried there with a short bio of each man.
