American Revolution Roundtable of the Backcountry
Please join us for the next program of the American Revolution Roundtable of the Backcountry on Monday, February 25. Jack Parker, author of Parker’s Guide to the Revolutionary War in South Carolina will be with us to discuss the exploits of the notorious Tory leader, William “Bloody Bill” Cunningham.
The Revolutionary War Period in South Carolina bore witness to a period of brutal civil war where Whig neighbors fought Tory neighbors, exhibiting a level of horror and cruelty that is hard to comprehend. As one examines the engagements and the names of various militia leaders on each side, it is nearly impossible not to see the name of Bill Cunningham. In his presentation, Jack Parker will highlight some of the exploits and locations where Cunningham was engaged in his “Bloody Scout” mission.
The meeting will take place in the Montgomery Room of the Burwell Building at Wofford College. You may choose to join us dinner and the program, or for the program only. The charge for the dinner and program is $23 per person while the cost for those attending the program only is $5.00. The complete schedule is as follows
