Curator Dustin Norris will discuss the notion of the “long Civil Rights Movement” at the February History and Heritage.
In school we are taught that the Civil Rights Movement began in the 1950s and ended with the legislative victories of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, 1965 Voting Rights Act, and the 1968 Fair Housing Act. Part of the discussion will be how our perception changes when we view the movement from the bottom-up. Come and hear the stories of Anderson’s own activists and how their lives support Civil Rights as a long term, grassroots movement. More Information
