Hagood Mill – Greater Clemson Music Festival

Greater Clemson Music Festival Comes to Hagood Mill Saturday April 22, 2017

11:00 am – 4:00 pm

Join us at Hagood Mill on Saturday, April 22 as we host the Greater Clemson Music Festival. One of more than 15 GCMF events, this year’s concert on the Hagood Mill stage will feature Donna Kay & The Carousers, along with the Catfish Po’ Boys and the Lions of Zion (LOZ) Band.

The Carousers just released their first CD, titled “Possessed,” and will play their vintage-inspired jazz, blues and swing. J. Michael King, nominated for this year’s G. Laney Harris Folk Heritage Award, joins bassist and vocalist Joe Jones for delicious tunes from the Catfish Po’ Boys. The LOZ Band brings its own special southern-fried reggae to get the event started with a great vibe.

The event will also include Greater Clemson Music Festival Chairman Vince Jackson presenting tales from his book, “Littlejohn’s Grill,” which was located in Clemson SC.  This book gives an insider’s look into the “Chitlin’ Circuit” the musical Underground Railroad black musicians traveled during the time of segregation. Some of the greatest musicians from the 1940s to the ’70s spent time traveling and playing this circuit and visited Littlejohn’s Grill as they traveled from New Orleans to New York.

So, head on out, grab a plate of great food on site provided by Toms Tasty Café, and Meat in the Middle (taco food truck) and enjoy a special day at the mill.

Anyone wishing to vend or demonstrate a craft during this event please call (864)898-2936 or send an email to BillyC@co.pickens.sc.us.

There is a $5.00 parking fee for this event, but admission is FREE to the Greater Clemson Music Festival, Hagood Mill Historic Site, and to the Hagood Creek Petroglyph Site.  All proceeds from parking help offset the costs incurred at Hagood Mill Historic Site.
