BAMA – Eclipse Events

The once-in-a-lifetime event coming up in August has the Belton Area Museum Association planning all types of activities for the coming weeks.

Until August  12:  Commemorative T-shirt Sales

To celebrate the most astounding event of the last 100 years, BAMA will be selling commemorative t-shirts. Sporting the new Belton logo and including the date, time and duration of the eclipse, this comfortable cotton tee will have you viewing this once in a lifetime event in style! Printed locally by Chuck Brooks at the Jean Shoppe, adult sizes are $18 each up to XL and youth sizes are $15 each.

Order forms are available on our Facebook Page.  Print out and return along with payment to the museum by August 12. Or call the museum to order at 864-338-7400. If you live in the Anderson School District 2 area, we will deliver your tees right to your doorstep! Or you can come by the museum and pick up your tee. Offer available for a limited time and quantities are also limited, so order today!!!

August 15:  Clemson University Planetarium Field Trip

Provide your own transportation and meet at the Clemson University Planetarium for a fun-filled view  of the skies. BAMA has arranged with a CU astronomy professor to provide a full program for interested students and parents, aged pre-school and up.  The planetarium is equipped with a highly advanced, full dome digital theater system and the program will focus on the upcoming eclipse.   A visit to the ‘55 Exchange for some Clemson ice cream will top off the event!

Show starts at 10 AM.  Registration required by calling 864-338-7400 by August 12 and the event is limited to 20 people. Meet in 112 Kinard Lab.

August 19:  Family Fun Day/Bring Your Legislator to the Museum Day

From 10 AM – noon, we will have lots of fun crafts, activities, and presentations organized by our own local politicians. Join us for some free family fun!!!

August 21:  Be Amazed! Solar Eclipse Party, 10 AM – 4 PM

Join us Monday, August 21, from 10 AM to 4 PM to celebrate the most amazing event in our lifetime-the total solar eclipse! Free activities for children and adults, viewing of the Air, Wind, and Space exhibit, Moon Pie sales, streaming of the Weather Channel coverage of this exciting event, and eclipse viewing from our lawn.


Until September 9:  Air, Wind, and Space Exhibit

Once in a lifetime eclipses, deadly tornadoes, feats of aeronautical prowess, and out-of-this-world materials are all attached to the small town of Belton. The Belton Area Museum Association features all this and more in its exhibit Air, Wind and Space, which will be open during museum hours, Wednesday–Friday , 9 AM – 2 PM, and Saturday, 9 AM – 1 PM until September 9 at the historic Belton train depot.

Featured in the exhibit are interactive activities for children, meteorites, a hot air balloon basket and racing memorabilia, products made in our area that support the aeronautics industry, vintage weather predictors, flight maps and equipment, and other interesting artifacts pertaining to the powers of air, wind, and space.
